This is a great light. I've had many headlamps in the past but this is my first Fenix. I was turned onto it by a coworker. It has a great hybrid beam. At all levels there is a hot spot in the middle and then a very wide spread pattern. It is also super compact. I�m thinking of getting a couple more for the family.

This simple design is exactly that simple! I wear this over my ball cap when doing almost everything to get a bright light on my repairs from plumbing to electrical it offers 3 levels of brightness, simple turning to adjust angle and large side button to turn on or off and to recharge using a micro usb cable is wonderful. I can't tell you the hassles of constantly needing new batteries is a pain in the yah butt!

Headlamps keep getting better and right now this one is the best I�ve seen. Standard rechargeable battery, waterproof, very bright output, battery indicator, infinitely adjustable tilt angle, very light at 3oz for backpacking. I just used this lamp on a one month bicycle tour. It is the BOMB! Great headlamp!!! Nice range from low to high, good battery life, really bright when you need it and so comfortable I would forget I had it on. I could also mount it on my bicycle helmet. It would be a perfect EDC if it had a clip.

This is a wonderful light. It's very floody, which is perfect for the up-close work that I use this for, and brings out colors like the cool white LEDs don't. I haven't drained any batteries with it, but the current draw seems pretty low for the amount of light. The headband is comfortable and the clip holds the light in place firmly. The only thing that would make it better would be a pocket clip for the light so it could be used as a shirt-pocket light. I've used Fenix lights since LED flashlights were a novelty, and they are built to last. I still have some of my first ones, and they work fine.

This headlamp is the lightest and most comfortable headlamp I've ever used. Super bright with easy button control to dim or brighten while moving. I do ultra-distance running in the mountains over really rocky and rooted technical terrain and this light performs better than any previous light used. I also bought the HL60R and am anxious to try it as well! The only drawback is lack of an ability to narrow the cone for spot but thus far as bright as it is, I don't think I need it! Did I mention how small, lightweight and comfortable it is?

I work a 3rd shift and this light has lasted over two years! Much longer than other brands! The light pattern spreads out great! Bright enough to see everything and not get blinded. Love it! It does love batteries when using it all the time.

This is a great, reliable light. Designed for extreme conditions like mountaineering or long-term backpacking. However, I don�t understand how this �last-resort� light is missing the signaling functions, for example, one short flash every 5 seconds, or sos. You don�t need those functions on �base camp� lights like TK35UE. But you definitely need it on this one, because just in case!

Good product.the one minor nit I have is that the way the light attaches to the band is built so that when you go to put it back on you can pierce the band and sort of get it stuck. It's something you need light to see and deal with, but the clip is stuck to the light...

What I like about the HM50R is the simplistic design. Just four brightness modes with a big, easy to use button. When winter mountaineering, I always had to take my gloves off to operate my Petzl headlamp. When in freezing and precarious situations, it�s sometimes easy to get into different color and flash modes, which takes time to scroll through. (I don�t want all of these modes in a headlamp _ I have them in my compact hand-held.) It is also very compact, feels durable and has a much better beam pattern (nice even fill) than other top headlamps I have owned. If this is what you are looking for, then Fenix has done a great job filling this niche.
